During the job fair that was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma, in the presence of the Additional Deputy Commissioner cum Chief Executive Officer of the District Bureau of Employment and Enterprise Kulwant Singh, 3286 unemployed youth took part. As many as 53 world acclaimed companies had participated in the job fair during which 2017 unemployed youth got placement, 69 others were shortlisted for the jobs and 109 were identified for skill training.
The Deputy Commissioner, who had detailed deliberations with the youth attending the fair, said that the Job Melas were acting as a catalyst to transform the destiny of the youth. He said that the youth who have got jobs during the fair would become an active partner in the socio-economic growth of the state. Sharma said that this was another milestone to channelize the unbounded energy of the youth of the state in a positive direction.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the job fairs were infact a first of its kind initiative of the state government to provide a livelihood to the unemployed youth of the state. He said that due to strenuous efforts of the state government key companies were visiting the college campuses to offer jobs to the youth. Mr. Sharma said that such endeavors to benefit the youth would continue in the coming days too.
On the occasion, Sub Divisional Magistrate Sanjeev Sharma, Principal of DAVIET Dr. Manoj Kumar, Deputy Director Employment Generation Mrs. Sunita Kalyan, Harmanpreet Singh and others were also present.
