Chandigarh, February 4, 2020: In a major relief, Nasopharyngeal swab samples of suspected 2019-nCoV (Coronavirus) persons have been reported negatively by the Institute of Virology, Pune.
Disclosing this here today, the Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu said that the National Institute of Virology (NIV) Pune, has confirmed 22 negative cases, while the report of 1 case belongs to Faridkot would be received by tomorrow. He said that there is no case of Coronavirus reported in the state so far and the Punjab Government is working on the war foots to specifically screen all cases having a history of China or transit stay at China airport.
“Of 85 suspected cases have been reported in Punjab, 84 found asymptomatic and a total number of 77 patients have now kept under the close observation, Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu said adding that 3915 passengers at Amritsar Airport and 4476 passengers at Mohali Airport have been screened were none of them were diagnosed with symptomatic.
The Minister further said that to keep a watch on Atari Border and Dera Baba Nanak, Gurdaspur, Medical posts have been stationed at both the sites. He said that 777 passengers at Atari and 1430 passengers at Dera Baba Nanak also screened from January 29, 2020, and no one found symptomatic for 2019 nCoV. He said that these Medical check posts are also been doing awareness activities among people who travel from Pakistan and are sensitizing them to submit self-declaration regarding any travel history to China and having symptoms of the virus.
He said that the Helpline number 104 has been activated for information regarding Corona Virus. Any citizen can contact on this number 24X7 for any information related to the Corona Virus disease. The Minister appealed that any person who has traveled to China and has arrived in India from January, 1st 2020 should report to the nearest Government Hospital or call at helpline number of 104 so that the Department of Health could trace and take necessary remedial measures.
