A nationwide NID Pulse Polio campaign is being launched from January 19 to January 21, 2020

Rupnagar  13th January  2020:  A nationwide NID Pulse Polio campaign is being launched from January 19 to January 21, 2020, to provide polio drops to children under the age up to 5 years to prevent the spread of polio. In order to operate effectively in the district, the officers of all departments should cooperate with the health department so that no child from 0 to 5 years is deprived of taking polio drops. DC Rupnagar Dr. Sumit Jarangal directed this during a meeting of the District Task Force Immunization for NID 2020.

Deputy Commissioner said that to ensure 100% coverage at all levels for the success of the polio campaign, all panchayats, DEOs (Primary, Secondary), Rural Development Department, Transport department, Water sanitation department and  Police Department must involve effectively. In addition to the Women and Child Development Department, the NGOs should coordinate with the health department to carry out this campaign. He emphasized that children living in slums, brick kelins, Dharamshala’s, urban and rural slums should be specially covered and that no child should be left without vaccination.

Speaking on the Agenda, Dr. H.N. Sharma, Civil Surgeon, Rupnagar, said that all the logistical arrangements for the polio campaign stand completed. Polio drops will be administered to 63944 children of 143725 households of a total population of 715596 in the district for effective implementation of the polio campaign. 256 booths will be set up at various locations and 23 transit teams will be deployed along with 23 mobile teams. 59 supervisors have also been deployed for this campaign. The booth day on the first day and at home during the following days, children will be given polio droplets. In addition, the district will cover 68 brick kleins,  4657 jhuggis, 03 under construction and 29 high-risk area.

On the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner Madam Deepshikha Sharma, SDM Sri Anandpur sahib madam Tanu Garg, District Immunization Officer Mohan klair, School Health Officer Dr. Jatinder Kaur, District Family Welfare Officer Dr.  Renu Bhatia, District Program Manager NHM Dolly Singla,  SMOs of all blocks and officers of all departments were present.
