Jalandhar, July 31, 2020: Ensuring holistic development of villages by building parks on vacant government or village land, the district administration has transformed a garbage dumping ground into a beautiful park in the Alipur village of the district under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MG-NREGA).
It is the second such park in Alipur village which has been constructed under MG-NREGA scheme. Earlier, the park was developed on the stinky pond.
The garbage dumping point was a major nuisance in the village and had become breeding ground for mosquitoes and flies posing the challenge of spreading diseases.
Disclosing this here today, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Vishesh Sarangal said that funds worth Rs 4.54 lakh from MG-NREGA scheme spent on this transformation and work has been completed a few days ago.
