Jalandhar, July 10, 2018 ( By Madhur) : As a part of its ongoing drive against vector-borne diseases in the city, a joint team of health department and Municipal Corporation Jalandhar (MCJ) today spotted dengue larva at nine places in various localities of the city.
Teams of anti-larva cell led by Sanjeev Kumar, Raj Kumar, Balwinder Singh, Sukhwinder Singh and others carried on the inspection in Waryam Nagar, Satkartarpur, Urban Estate Phase II and Garha localities besides the offices of Civil Surgeon, Civil Hospital and ESI Hospital. During the checking the teams visited 218 houses and checked 63 air coolers, 39 waste containers and five abundant lying tyres. The team detected larva at nine places including five in a tyre and four air coolers at Waryam Nagar, three in air coolers at Satkartarpur and in one air cooler at Garha locality.
After detecting the larva, the team destroyed it by spraying the medicine. The team also interacted with the local residents and asked them to refrain from storing water in containers and air coolers as it could act as a breeding ground for the mosquitoes that were the carriers of diseases like dengue, malaria and others. The team also informed the people about the ‘Tandarust Punjab Mission’ that was aimed at ensuring the overall wellness of the people of the district.
