BSF, AMF organizes Para-Cycling-‘Infinite Ride-2018 DGP HP to flag-off Rally on 5th August at Shimla

Ferozepur, August 4, 2018: To take this resolve of empowerment of Divyangs further, Border Security Force and Aditya Mehta Foundation has decided to undertake a Para-cycling event – an Expedition from Shimla to Manali which is a stretch of approx. 700 kms passing through a serene but psychologically demanding and physically testing route which includes Narkanda – Rampur – Kalpa – Kaza – Chhatru and finally terminating at Manali.

It’s worth mentioning here that this concept and endeavour of ‘’Infinity Ride’’ was conceptualized by Mr. Aditya Mehta, the convenor of Aditya Mehta Foundation who started the foundation in 2013 with a vision to help the disabled personnel & athletes. This is the 3rd year in continuity when Aditya Mehta Foundation and BSF has organised this Infinity Ride Event together. Not only this, he is into counselling Divyangs to help them to cope up with both the mental and physical trauma.

Shri S P Mardi, IPS, Director General (Police) Himachal Pradesh has given his kind consent to grace the occasion to Flag-off the Rally on 5th Aug, 2018 at Gaiety Hall, Mall Road, Shimla. The rally will terminate at Manali on 15th Aug, 2018 and will be flagged-in by Hon’ble MOS (Home) Shri Kiren Rijiju.

This effort would not only go a long way in restoring the pride of our personnel, who always believe in JIWAN PARYANT KARTAVYA, but also inculcate a sense of confidence and belongingness amongst all our brave men. They never give up on their duty of serving the nation, and the nation will never give up its responsibility in taking good care of them.

For the last fifty years, BSF has been the First Line of Defence for most of the Indo-Bangladesh Border and Indo-Pakistan border. Other than successfully fighting shoulder to shoulder during 1971 War and Kargil War, BSF has also matched up to the Nation’s expectations in situations like militancy in Kashmir, Punjab, North East States and naxal problem, in various law and order duties and also during election duties across the country. BSF has earned more than 2000 decorations and in the process, 1800 of our brave hearts sacrificed their lives on the altar of duty.

A still larger number of our personnel who fought valiantly in all these actions have been injured and rendered disable. Our effort has always been to reintegrate them into the society and support them. Other than medical facility, they are helped with grants and aid and also a substantial disability pension. However, BSF also directly supports its Divyang (disabled personnel) who are part of the Force. This effort is to make them ‘’stand on their feet’’ and give them back their confidence and self-respect.

Keeping this in view, under the leadership of Shri. K K Sharma, IPS, Director General, Border Security Force, an Institute namely ‘’Divyang Skill Development Centre’’ (DSDC) has been established, which caters for the skill development of Divyang personnel while they are in the Force and also with the post retirement perspective. This has been set up at BSF Camp in Chhawla (New Delhi) and the Institute undertake activities like :-

  • Para Sports training
  • Computer skill development course
  • Communication skill development course
