Chandigarh, November 15 ,2019: Reacting sharply to the 14-day jaunt to European countries by Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab President and Member of Parliament (MP) Bhagwant Mann has said that Captain Amarinder Singh had proved himself to be a ‘careless’ chief minister in the country’s political history, saying that he, along with his ‘kitchen cabinet’, had proceeded on a ‘hunting trip’ to certain European countries, leaving the state to the will of God.
In a statement issued from party headquarters in Chandigarh here on Friday, Bhagwant Mann said that while Captain Amarinder Singh had, n the one hand, left the farmers, farm labour, the unemployed, employees, pensioners, businessmen, shopkeepers, the elderly and widows and the ‘dalit’ and the poor, disappointed as they had been protesting against the Captain government on the roads having failed to fulfill the poll promises, on the other Captain Amarinder Singh had been on a pleasure trip to the foreign lands. He said “How could a Chief Minister of the state so callous to leave the state in a turmoil? Mann said that before proceeding to the foreign lands, the Chief Minister didn’t deem it proper to hand over the ‘charge’ to a senior minister to attend to the day-to-day affairs and meet and deal with an emergent situation in his absence.
Bhagwant Mann said that the power-drunk Capt. Amarinder Singh and the accompanying ‘Royal caucus’, including Advocate General, Punjab, Atul Nanda, Minister Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi, Advisor Kushaldeep Singh ‘Kiki’ Dhillon and his billionaire friend Kewal Singh Dhillon needed to comprehend in the first place that in democratic system of government like ours, only the people are the real ‘king makers’ and not those who hold portfolios and positions, saying the final power rests with the people at large.
Mann further said that Punjab had been running at mercy of the god for the past three years, as after assuming charge of Chief Minister of the state, Capt Amarinder Singh never considered it necessary to meet the people and listen to their grievances, leaving them to shuttle from pillar to post for getting their work done. So much so, Chief Principal Secretary Suresh Kumar, touted to be the de facto Chief Minister’, is also on visit to the US and Punjab, leaving the state headless at the will of god.
Bhagwant Mann said that people had installed Arvind Kejriwal as Chief Minister in Delhi and, similarly, they had given this honour to Captain Amrinder Singh as well in Punjab pinning hopes and aspirations for better days. Mann appealed to all sections of the people of Punjab to strike a distinction between the work done by the Arvind Kejriwal government in Delhi and that of the Captain Amarinder Singh government in Punjab, saying that if the people gave AAP a chance, sincere efforts would be made to replicate the Delhi model.
