Cooperative Department To Purchase Equipment Worth Rs 3.34 Crore to curb stubble burning. 

Cashless Treatment To Members Of Cooperative Societies In Progress.
Nawanshahr, June 13, 2018 ( By TNL Bureau): With a view to ensuring the dream of Mission Tandarust Punjab come true,  the Department of Cooperation would purchase 284 agriculture equipment to curb the practice of stubble burning in SBS Nagar district. This agriculture equipment would include Happy seeders, Rotavators, Zero tillage Drill, Baler and tractors etc. These would help in curbing the practice of stubble burning,  thus ensuring pollution free environment.
Divulging the details here today Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies, Mohan Singh Said that a meeting of the secretaries of 142 cooperative societies had been called today to apprise them of the strategy to check the menace of stable burning.
    It was stressed at the meeting that without having an alternative to dispose of stubble, we could not force farmers to shun the practice of stubble burning.
   Having made these implements available, we can mobilise them to make proper utilisation of this equipment foras an alternative to stumble burning and not to pollute the environment, he said.
   The implements would be provided on a meagre rent. These implements would cost to the department for Rs 3.34 Crore and State would provide a subsidy of eighty per cent.
He directed the societies’ staff to maintain the quality of Agri inputs besides food products supplied to the members.
He further said that to keeping in view the healthcare needs of members of Societies, the department is going to Implement Bhai Kanayia Health Insurance to provide cashless treatment amounting to Rs two lakh. Under this scheme, the main member to be charged with a membership fee of Rs 1765 while a dependent member with Rs 433 per head. After the launching of this scheme the members would be able to get a cashless treatment from the empanelled hospitals, he added.
