Ferozepur, July 10, 2019: Daughters are not less than boys in any field and girls have brought laurels to their family and country by excelling in almost every sector. Daughter are not a burden, they are our pride. These views were expressed by Jail and Cooperation Minister, Punjab Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa on Wednesday, on honoring 48 daughters under Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao – Save girl child, Educate girl child – program, who did extremely well in different fields at a special function organized.

On this occasion, MLA Parminder Singh Pinki, MLA Kulbir Singh Zira, Deputy Commissioner Chander Gaind, SSP Sandeep Goel, District Programme Officer Rattandeep Kaur Sandhu were present.

In his address, Cabinet Minister Randhawa said, the daughters have a very important place in our lives.  They perform various roles in their life like mother, sister, wife and without them, the social upliftment cannot be imagined.

He said, when a daughter becomes a police officer or outshine in other important fields, the entire society feels proud of it.

Randhawa said, in order to give equal rights to the daughters in society, we have to eliminate some of the deficiencies in society only then they can achieve better in their life.  Likewise, it is the need of the hour to attack the dowry system.  In case we stop all these unnecessary expenditures, the status of daughters will improve automatically and no one thinks of talking about female foeticide. He stressed to put an emphasis on girl’s education by stopping superfluous expenses.

Addressing the seminar, Parminder Singh Pinki, MLA said,  we should treat our daughters as sons because the sons cannot look after their family as daughters can.  We should be proud of girls as after the marriage they also make their outperform in their in-laws also.

Pinki said, the daughters are nowadays are also joining the  BSF and Air Force, they too have shown their strength in various other fields.

Appreciating the daughters of the district honored today, Deputy Commissioner, Chander Gaind, encouraged all girls to come forward on getting inspiration from their hard work and struggle.

Later, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Cabinet Minister also inaugurated the gallery arranged in DAC Complex under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao program of the government.  He also appreciated the District Programme Officer Ratandeep Kaur Sandhu for displaying the achievements of the daughters of the district in a very pleasant approach.

Earlier, Randhawa started the tree planation campaign of planting 550 trees dedicated to 550th Parkash Utsav of Guru Nana Dev in the Orphanage House.   He said, it is very important to plant trees to keep the environment green and clean. He however, advised to plant trees which consume less water but look more greenish. He sought assurance from all to ensure that all the trees planted in the district are looked after till they are grown up.

Randhawa announced to release of the grant of Rs.2 lac to Orphanage House, out his grant.
