Reviews flood control arrangements
Kapurthala-Jalandhar, June 29,2020: Deputy Commissioner Kapurthala Deepti Uppal today conducted a whirlwind tour of Dhusi Bandh along with the river Beas in the district to review the arrangements in wake of the coming rainy season.
Accompanied by officers of Civil and Army, the Deputy Commissioner visited the villages near Dhusi Bandh and inspected the arrangements in place for flood control. She also inspected Bein and drains. She asked the officers/ officials to put in place a viable mechanism for completing all the flood control arrangements before the advent of the rainy season. She also directed the officials to strengthen flood-prone sensitive places to minimize damage in the rainy season.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the officers to ensure that the residents of villages do not have to face any sort of problem in the rainy season. She also interacted with the villagers and assured fulsome support and cooperation to them from the district administration. On the occasion, the Army officers accompanying the Deputy Commissioner assured him that they would extend all possible help to the district administration whenever needed.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration has already made adequate arrangements to meet any sort of situation in the wake of the rainy season. She said that evacuation plan, in case of flood, has already been finalized and the sensitive places have been identified along with the safe places where the residents of flood-prone areas would be shifted if required.
The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by Sub Divisional Magistrates Varinder Pal Singh Bajwa and Randeep Singh Heer, District Revenue Officer Paramjit Singh Sahota, XEN Ajit Singh, DDPO Harjinder Singh Sandhu, Chief Agriculture Officer Nazar Singh, Major M. Sangwan and Major Hemant Bhandari.
