DC & CP step in for streamlining vehicular movement on PAP chowk

Jalandhar, November 15-2018 ( By SK.Vyas): With the work on re-construction of flyover at PAP Chowk picking up the pace, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar  Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police  Gurpreet Singh Bhullar today stepped in for streamlining the vehicular movement on this stretch of national highway.

The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police spent around an hour at the PAP Chowk to oversee the ongoing work besides monitoring the flow of traffic at the busy portion of the national highway. They expressed satisfaction over the diversion of traffic coming from Amritsar at gate number four of the PAP Complex which would enter the city after turning a few feet from HDFC bank. Likewise, the traffic heading towards Rama Mandi would move on the newly constructed service road along with the wall of the PAP Complex.

The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police issued stern directions to the officers that any vehicle parked on this road should be immediately towed to ensure that traffic does not choke at this point. They also appealed the people to follow the traffic rules and do not park their vehicles on the road as it could create a traffic chaos. They said that the traffic Police assisted by public volunteers should be deployed to ensure that traffic moves in a smooth and hassle-free manner.

The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police also said that the district administration has already evolved a foolproof mechanism to make sure that traffic bottleneck was not created on this point. They also pointed out some flaws in the construction of the service lane along with the PAP Complex and asked Construction Company to immediately remove them so that people do not face any sort of problem. They also asked the company representatives to ensure that the work on this prestigious project was completed in the stipulated time period.

Pertinently, the work on the construction of 3.20 kilometres long PAP -Rama Mandi Flyover has been hanging in fire from last more than nine years. The project was very significant for the commuters travelling from Delhi to Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Pathankot and Jammu via Jalandhar to and fro.

On the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police  Kulwant Singh Heer, Assistant Commissioner of Police Jang Bahadur Sharma and other officers were also present.
