DC SEEKS SUPPORT OF POLITICAL PARTIES IN EVP PROGRAM

Jalandhar, August 13, 2019:  Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Electoral Officer  Varinder Kumar Sharma on Tuesday held a meeting the representatives of various political parties after special summary revision of photo electoral rolls after ECI fixed January 1, 2020, as the qualifying date. Presiding over a meeting in district administrative complex, Sharma solicited their support in the creating awareness among the general public so that maximum and maximum can be enrolled as voters. He said that the district administration would also start sensitization activities under Electors Verification Program (EVP) including revision of photo electoral rolls so that the citizens can be encouraged to come forward and authenticate existing elector’s details relating thereto, by giving a copy of one of the following documents including Indian Passport, Driving Licence, Aadhar, Ration Card or other document approved by the commission. He said that EVP would be conducted from August 16 to September 30.

He said that house to house verification would be carried out by BLOs where they would verify information/details collected from citizen and would also collect information/details of un-enrolled/dead/shifted electors from September 1 to 30.

The deputy commissioner also informed the activities including flagging of persons with a disability, meetings with political parties and sharing of electoral rolls, recasting of sections, standardization, capturing of GIS locations of polling stations, preparation of improved Nazari Naksha of polling stations, updation of age-cohart wise projected population, rationalization of polling station and, the publication of integrated draft electoral will also be conducted under this revision.

He added that special campaign for receiving claims and objections, disposal of claims, updating of data and printing of supplements and final publication of electoral roll will be done on January 1, 2020.
