APPEALS PEOPLE TO CELEBRATE THIS FESTIVAL WITH TRADITIONAL FERVOR AND GAIETY
Jalandhar, November 7, 2018 ( By SK.Vyas): Setting a new benchmark of celebrating Diwali with compassion, humanity and brotherhood, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma shared the festivities with elderly people residing in old age home here in the city.
The Deputy Commissioner accompanied by his wife Praveen Sharma and daughters Madhvi and Pratibha visited the old age home near the deaf school and exchanged gifts with the senior citizens at the elderly home. Seeking blessings from the elderly people, he said that it was a momentous occasion for him to celebrate the festival of light with the senior citizens. Sharma said also said that he was very fortunate to have got this opportunity for celebrating this festival here at the old age home amongst the senior citizens, who were a repository of experience of life.
The Deputy Commissioner reiterated that since centuries Diwali- a festival of love, light and prosperity has been celebrated by us with utmost devotion and full religious zeal. He said that the sparkling lights of Diwali not only illuminate every household but it was also a symbol of the victory of light over darkness, good over evil and hope over despair. Sharma hoped that this Diwali would once again bring peace, prosperity and happiness to the people besides strengthening the bonds of communal harmony, peace and brotherhood amongst them’.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed the people to celebrate this festival with traditional fervour and gaiety rising above the parochial considerations of caste, colour, creed and religion thereby cementing the bonds of harmony, amity and goodwill. He said that all the residents of the city must come forward and make a firm resolve to celebrate Diwali with few crackers and as per the time fixed by the High Court. Likewise, he has also asked the people to adhere by the directions of the court of bursting the crackers between 8 pm to 10 pm on Diwali night.
