Jalandhar, July 31, 2019: Election Commission of India has announced the special summary revision of photo electoral rolls by fixing January 1, 2020, as the qualifying date.
Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Electoral Officer Kulwant Singh said awareness activities would be carried out in the district regarding revision of photo electoral rolls so that the citizens can be encouraged to come forward and authenticate existing elector’s details relating thereto, by giving copy of one of the following documents including Indian Passport, Driving Licence, Aadhar, Ration Card or other document approved by commission. He said that house to house verification would be carried out by BLOs where they would verify information/details collected from citizen and would also collect information/details of un-enrolled/dead/shifted electors.
Further, Singh informed the activities including flagging of persons with disability, meetings with political parties and sharing of electoral rolls, recasting of sections, standardization, capturing of GIS locations of polling stations, preparation of improved Nazari Naksha of polling stations, updation of age-cohort wise projected population, rationalization of polling station and, publication of integrated draft electoral will also be conducted under this revision.
He added that special campaign for receiving claims and objections, disposal of claims, updating of data and printing of supplements and final publication of electoral roll will be done on January 1, 2020.
