GREENERY AT 10 SITES IN CITY TO BE SPRUCED UP FOR EFFECTIVE COMBATING OF ENVIRONMENT POLLUTION

·        MAJOR PARKS AND STRETCHES TO BE COVERED UNDER THE SMART CITY PROJECT

Jalandhar, November 8, 2018 ( By SK.Vyas): In a bid to provide the green lungs to the city for checking the environmental pollution, the district administration has selected 10 locations in the city for sprucing them to enhance green cover in the city under the ‘Smart City Project’.

          Divulging the details, the Chief Executive Officer of the Smart City Project Mr. Vishesh Sarangal said that 10 locations including Beant Singh Park, Tobri Mohalla Park, Dr. BR Ambedkar Park, Industrial Area Park, Tankiwala Park, Urban Estate Green Belt, DAV Bridge Flyover, Hoshiarpur road Flyover, Pathankot Chowk Flyover and Canal Area in the city have been selected for enhancing green cover in the city.  He said that the project to be covered under the Smart City project was aimed at beautifying these locations. Sarangal said that it has been decided to give a facelift to existing Chowks in the city besides beautification of big parks of the city.

The Chief Executive Officer said that the Detailed Project Report of this project has been approved and the tenders for starting the work would be called very soon. He said that the main thrust of the move was to ensure that the green cover in the city was enhanced.   Sarangal said that besides beautification the focus of the project was to enhance greenery in the city for effectively combating the environmental pollution.

The Chief Executive Officer also said that project would also help in giving a rejuvenated look to the city besides making it clean, green and pollution free. He said that during the drive special focus would be laid on planting site-specific plants so that they could grow well in the conducive environment.
