…bats for an immediate rollback on exorbitant land registry fee
Chandigarh, January 26, 2020: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state President, and Member of Parliament, Bhagwant Mann, taking strong exception to the hefty raise in the land registry fee and incidental expenses, has demanded immediate roll back on the decision.
In a statement issued from the party headquarters here in Chandigarh on Saturday, Bhagwant Mann said that the people of the state were already bearing the brunt of the anti-people policies of the state and central governments, saying the additional liability of direct and indirect taxes was beyond their financial reach.
Mann said that close on the heels of the rise in the electricity tariff in January 2020, by 36 paise per unit, the raise in the land registry fee and other related expenses by 10 percent was unwarranted and was tantamount to an open ‘loot’ of the people.
The AAP MP said that the decision to raise the land registry fee and incidental expenses by Rs 5000 at a time when rates of property were plummeting in the wake of the financial slowdown was uncalled for and untenable.
Similarly, the rise in the ‘farad’ fee at the rate of Rs 5 per page and other incidental expenses was indicative of the mental bankruptcy of CM Amarinder Singh and finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal.
Demanding an immediate roll back on the decision, Mann said that they (Captain and Badal) should crack a whip on government-sponsored transport mafia, cable mafia, land mafia, sand mafia, liquor mafia, to bail out the people of the state from the financial mess triggered caused by the rising inflation.
