Jalandhar March 12 : The Freudian Psychological Society of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organized an International Workshop on Relaxation Techniques for Coping with Stress under the able guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. On this occasion, the resource person for the workshop was Dr. Hina Chatha, Registered Psychologist, College of Alberta, Canada. Dr. Ashmeen Kaur, HOD Psychology welcomed her with a planter. Dr. Hina Chatha helped the students to understand what exactly stress is and how to overcome and cope with the various kinds of stressors. She accentuated on focusing upon one’s strengths rather than the stressors and training our minds to focus upon what makes us happy. She introduced various relaxation techniques like Diaphragmatic Breathing, Color Breathing, Progressive Muscle Relaxation, Mindful Breathing and Grounding Technique. She demonstrated each and every technique and helped the students learning them well.
Dr. Chatha also conducted various activities to help the students understand the psychological and physiological effects of stress and also to help them learn the proper and right way of practicing the various relaxation techniques. She conducted an activity named Visualizing Happy Movements and sharing a technique of positive psychology and emphasized on focusing on positive side of life and sharing it with others.
During the interactive session, she answered the queries of the students and motivated them to apply all these relaxation technique especially during the exams. Miss Rupam Prashar, Joint Secretary, Freudian Psychological Society gave the vote of thanks. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen honoured the resource person Dr. Hina Chatha with a Phulkari, a painting and a gift. Miss Aastha Angrish and Miss Anjana were also present during the workshop. Faculty members from other streams also attended the workshop.
