JALANDHAR (RURAL) SUCCEEDS IN RECOVERY OF HUGE QUANTITY OF CHARASILLICIT LIQUOR, LAHAN ETC.

Jalandhar,April 1,2019:Tightening noose on the illicit wine smugglers the On the directions issued by Dinkar Gupta, Director General of Police,Punjab, Naunihal Singh, Inspector General of Police, Jalandhar Range, Jalandhar,  Varinder Kumar Sharma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar –cum– District Elections Officer, Jalandhar, Navjot Singh Mahal, Senior Superintendent of Police, Jalandhar (Rural), Rajveer Singh, SP/Investigation, and Sh. Davinder Kumar Attri,DSP/Sub-Division Phillaur, a special drive has been launched against narcotic smugglers and anti-social elements.

The Jalandhar police received a major success when the police of PS Phillaur succeeded in recovery of 15 KG Charas, 012 Tarpals, 06
distilleries, 30 iron drums containing 80000 Ltr. Lahan, 06 Plastic Cans and 10 Tubes containing 14000 Ltr. of illicit liquor.
While addressing the press media,  Rajveer Singh, SP/Investigation,
Jalandhar (Rural) SAID  that on March 3, 2019, Inspr. Prem Singh, SHO PS Phillaur along with police party was conducting checking of vehicles at Hightech Naka, Sutlej Bridge, Phillaur. At about 11:50 pm information was received that Raja Singh s/o Late Hira Singh r/o Baseke Bhaini, PS Gharinda, district Amritsar and Jai Vijay Singh s/o Balwinder Singh r/o Baseke Bhaini, PS Gharinda, district
Amritsar is in the business of selling of Charas and narcotics and are coming by foot from Ludhiana side towards Phillaur. In this regard case, FIR No. 108 dated 01-04-2019 u/s 18 NDPS Act was registered in PS Phillaur, district Jalandhar (Rural) and Sh. Davinder Kumar Attri, PPS, DSP/Sub-Division Phillaur was informed accordingly, upon which he immediately reached the spot and in the presence of the said officer, checking was conducted. During the checking, 02 persons were spotted coming by foot from Ludhiana side, who on seeing the nakabandi returned back and tried to flee from the spot, but they were apprehended by the police party. The apprehended persons revealed their identity as Raja Singh s/o Late Hira Singh r/o Baseke Bhaini, PS Gharinda, district Amritsar and Jai Vijay Singh s/o Balwinder
Singh r/o Baseke Bhaini, PS Gharinda, district Amritsar. Their search was got conducted upon which 7 KG Charas was recovered from the shoulder bag of Raja Singh whereas 08 KG of Charas (Total 15 KG Charas) was recovered from the shoulder bag of Jai Vijay Singh. Both the accused were arrested in
the case.

However, a thorough probe into the matter is being conducted.
On 01-04-2019, Inspr. Prem Singh, SHO PS Phillaur along with police party was
conducting checking of vehicles at Hightech Naka, Sutlej Bridge, Phillaur. At about 11:20 AM an
information was received that Makhan Singh @ Makhni, Pritam Singh @ Preetu, Balvir Singh @ Bharu
s/o Amar Singh, Balbir Singh s/o Balkar Singh, Channa s/o Mohinder Singh, Phana Chaki Wala all
a resident of village Bholewal jajid, PS Phillaur, district Jalandhar along with 15/16 other unknown
persons are in the business of distilling of illicit liquor at Sutlej river bank, village Bholewal Jajid, PS Phillaur and further sell the same in the area of district Jalandhar since a long time. It was further informed that this liquor could be highly dangerous for consumers.
On receipt of the information, Sh. Davinder Kumar Attri, PPS, DSP/Sub-Division
Phillaur, SHO PS Phillaur, Davinder Pannu, E.T.O. and Inspr. Ram Murti of Excise Mobile Wing,
Jalandhar raided the area with the use of boats. On the seeing, the police party all the accused managed
to escape from the spot. The search of the area was conducted, upon which 102 Tarpals, 06 distilleries, 30 iron drums containing 80000 Ltr. of Lahan, 06 Plastic Cans and 10 Large Tubes containing 14000 illicit liquor was recovered. IN this regard case FIR No. 110 dated 01-04-2019 u/s 61 Excise Act
was registered in PS Phillaur, district Jalandhar (Rural). Thus with the recovery of this illicit liquor, many human lives had been saved. All our efforts are being made to arrest the accused.
