JOINT TEAM OF PPCB AND PUNJAB POLICE CONTINUE DRIVE AGAINST NOISE POLLUTION

Jalandhar,  April 9  (By SK.Vyas)– Spearheading its drive to control noise pollution by taking action against vehicles blaring pressure horns, a joint team of Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) and traffic Police  challaned one Enfield bullet bike for using multi-tone horn and cracker sound emitting silencer.

The Joint team comprising PPCB’s Junior Environmental Engineer (JEE) Mr Varun Kumar along with the team of traffic Police led by Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Traffic Police Mr Balwinder Singh checked ten heavy motor vehicles and  seven Royal Enfield motorcycles at Guru Nanak Mission Chowk.

During the drive, the team challaned one bullet bike for violating the noise pollution rules. The rest heavy vehicles and bikes were found without using any pressure horns. The violator would also be issued show cause notice under section 31-A of Air Act, 1981.

The team also exhorted the owners of vehicles to stop using pressure horns in their vehicles as it causes a lot of noise pollution and are prohibited under Act.
