Jalandhar, June 14, 2019: In view of the upcoming Shobha Yatra to mark the Parkash Utsav of Satguru Kabir Ji on June 17, District Magistrate Kulwant Singh has ordered that all meat and liquor shops falling on the route of Shobha Yatra will remain closed on June 15.
Exercising the powers vested under Section 144, Code of Criminal Procedure (CRPC), 1973, District Magistrate has ordered that all the liquor and meat shops on the route of Shobha Yatra which will start from Bhargo Nagar and pass through Nari Niketan, Dr. BR Ambedkar Chowk, Bhagwan Valmiki Chowk (Jyoti Chowk), Basti Adda Chowk, Football Chowk, Veer Babrik Chowk, Model House, Guru Ravidass Chowk and back to Bhargo Nagar, will have to remain shut.
He said that the decision has been taken on the account of the religious importance of the Yatra.
He added that opening of the meat and liquor shops on the route could create major law and order problem by hurting the sentiments of the people.
