Chandigarh March 11, 2019: The Department of Statistics has conducted two days
symposium on Bio-statistical techniques and its applications in
clinical studies. The Hon’ble VC Prof. Raj Kumar, Panjab University
has inaugurated the symposium and emphasized the importance of
statistical techniques in the field of Biology and Medical Sciences.
Prof. Suresh Sharma, the coordinator of the workshop has
explained the theme and objectives of the symposium and how it is
applicable to the field of epidemiology, nutrition, environmental
health, and health services research, genomics, proteomics, population
genetics, medicine, and ecology. Bio-statistical techniques have
applications in Meta-Analysis, Genetic Association Studies, Clinical
Trials, Stochastic Modelling and bioinformatics.
Dr. Manoj Kumar, Chairperson of the Department of Statistics
proposed the vote of thanks. About 80 participants from all over India
has attended the symposium.
