Chandigarh, March 29,2020: On one hand the whole world is struggling with Coronavirus and on the
another hand we have our selfless heroes like doctors, paramedic staff, Police personnel, staff managing cleanliness and other volunteers working day-night for the betterment of human life.
Out of these few dedicated volunteers, there were certain initiatives of such students from Panjab University, Chandigarh who have done exceptional volunteerism. Megha Mittal, hailing from a village near Barwala, district
Panchkula, Haryana studying at Centre for Social Work, Panjab
University has done an anti-infectious spray at different locations in and around her village. She involved the local community to sanitize their area. She also sensitized the fellow villagers, on how to remain healthy and fit during this time period and requested everyone to stay at home.
Niyati Gulia, Senior research fellow, department of women studies feeding more than 35 to 55 stary dogs daily in the sector- 38, Chandigarh where is putting-up. She is offering dog feed, chappatis and biscuits, etc to all these dogs.
Jaskirat Kaur Saini and Roopinder Kaur, students pursuing a Masters’s degree in Social Work spearheading the correct awareness about COVID-19 through their poems and short videos. They are requesting people that they don’t believe in every message being floated through social media. They are also sharing, how to track the necessary,
correct and relevant information on the internet.
Jagdish Banga, making voice-overs and short videos with the help of local administration at Jalandhar, Punjab. Sukhman Singh guiding people about Social Distancing especially at co-operative Diaries at his village near Jalalabad, Punjab.
