People of Shahkot won’t repeat mistake: Rana Sodhi

SHAHKOT (JALANDHAR), May 15  (By SK.Vyas) : Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi today said that the people of Shahkot will not repeat the mistake they had committed in the past by voting for an Akali candidate.

While regretting the sad and untimely demise of the sitting Akali legislator Ajit Singh Kohar that necessitated the by-election, Sodhi said, the people of Shahkot had a golden chance to send the candidate to the Vidhan Sabha who belonged to the ruling party.

“Judging from the mood of the people I am sure they have made up their mind to correct their mistake and elect our (Congress) candidate Hardev Singh Ladi Sherowalia to the Vidhan Sabha”, he claimed while asserting that the party will win, at least, by 20,000 votes.

Sodhi maintained that the Congress government had always ushered in progress and development as compared to the Akalis who had always restricted progress to their own person. He said, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh had proved once again that he always held the interests of Punjab above everything.

The minister cited the examples of loan waiver, curbing of drug peddling, cancellation of false FIRs and generation of jobs in the state in the very first year of the government. “This is just the beginning and you will see how Punjab will grow and progress in next four years and you will be equal participants in this progress”, he told people of Shahkot at six different places where he addressed public meetings.
