JALANDHAR, June 16 (By Madhur Vyas) – The health department has administered polio drops to 54700 children between 0-5 years of age on the first day of three-day polio drive started on Sunday.
Civil Surgeon Dr Rajesh Bagga told that during the drive today, 1089 health teams administered polio drops to 12854 children in rural areas and 41846 children in urban areas.
He said that a total of 1089 teams were formed for this purpose and 152 supervisors were deputed to carry out the drive. Besides, front line health workers including ASHA, Multiple Health Workers, college students and others took part in the drive, he added.
He added that Assistant Health Officer Dr TP Singh, District Epidemiologist Dr. Satish Kumar, WHO SMO Dr Rishi, Urban Nodal Officer Dr Priyanka Bhandari checked bus stand, Butta Mandi, Basti Nau, Basti Bawa Khel and other areas during the drive and also administrated polio drops to the children.
He said that the migratory population residing in slums and brick kilns was specially covered in this drive.
