Jalandhar, January 16,2020 : As part of 31st National Road Safety Week from January 11 to 17, The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Secretary Dr Nayan Jassal on Thursday distributed 50 free helmets to the riders, outside the district administrative complex.
Dr Jassal said that maximum numbers of accident victims are two-wheeler riders and most deaths occur because of head injuries. She said that most of the riders do not understand the importance of wearing a helmet and the rest wear it just to avoid being penalised by the police.
She said that the riders were asked to wear helmets every time they ride two-wheelers and obey traffic rules, signboards, speed limit, avoid driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs and others besides told them to ensure proper maintenance of vehicles regularly.
RTA said that the following of the traffic rules could help to control the road mishaps and save human lives.
