Striking lawyers agree not to stop entry of litigants in high court premises

Chandigarh, August 14, 2019: Appearing before the full bench of the High Court comprising Chief Justice Krishna Murari, Justice Rajiv Sharma and Justice Rakesh Kumar Jain, in a Public Interest Litigation wherein the litigants complained that striking advocates protesting against the setting up of Haryana Administrative Tribunal were blocking the entry of litigants into the court, which was strongly objected to by the court, DPS Randhawa, president Bar Association, High Court, Chandigarh, and Rohit Sud, secretary, High Court Bar Association, informed the court that the Bar Association will not cause any obstruction in the ingress and egress of the litigants and/or any other person, duly authorised, to the premises of the High Court.

They added that the Executive Committee will take a decision about the mode and manner of their protest and shall come up with their stand when the matter is next taken up on Friday, August 16.
