New Delhi , July 6, 2020: Last week, Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia had announced the launch of Delhi Government’s remote teaching-learning approach for the month of July owing to the closure of schools. Today was the first day of the implementation of that model wherein Education department reached out to all the students in KG to Grade 12 in Delhi government schools through distinct strategies Last week.
Students from KG to Grade 8 received their first worksheet which they will now receive everyday. It contains engaging, syllabus agnostic activities to promote reading, writing, basic numeracy and happiness among children. Similarly, students in Grade 9 and 10 received worksheets for Hindi, Science and Maths today. Henceforth, they will receive 2-3 worksheets everyday.
All the worksheets were shared with the students by the class teachers through Whatsapp group created at the class level. Around 4.15 lakh students have accessed the worksheets on first day. The students will be working on the worksheets and will share it with their teachers on the respective Whatsapp groups. For those students who don’t have access to Whatsapp, teachers will get the printouts of these worksheets and will hand them to their parents on a weekly basis.

For the Grade 12th students, shortlisted teachers of Delhi Government schools took online classes in English and History today. The classes were streamed live on youtube and students were asking their doubts through Youtube comments, which were solved by the teachers. For English, the topic of today’s session was ‘Formal letters’, while for history, the topic was ‘Thinkers, Beliefs and Buildings’. Around 23,000 students watched the live lessons on Youtube, and answered questions asked by teachers on Youtube comments. Till the writing of this report, the videos have been accessed by more than 1.35 lakh people on Youtube.

Manish Sisodia congratulated the teachers and parents for the successful launch of the initiative. He has requested the parents to keep supporting the government in this initiative so that every child can learn. He also said that during this pandemic, a huge number of students and their parents have shown great interest in online learning. This has raised the confidence of the teachers who are working hard to reach out to every child.
