Vigilance Awareness Week Seminar Organised at Nawanshahr
Nawanshahr, November 03,2018 ( By TNL Bureau) : Deputy Commissioner Vinay Bublani today gave the clarion call to not to be the part of the corrupt system to eradicate it completely from the society. He said that a firm decision to not to pay the bribe to get the work done on early basis can shun the bad practice.
Adressing a seminar on ‘Vigilance Awareness Week’ organised by local unit of Vigilance Bureau and district adminstration at DAN College of Education, the deputy commissioner said that the increase of technology in delivery mechanism of public utilities related to various departments, under one roof in the name of Sewa Kendras, Saanjh Kendras and Farad Kendras have been proving beneficial steps to overcome corrupt practices. He said that state government had been taken much more transparency measures in the working of government offices as per zero tolerance towards corruption.
Harish Dayama SP (H) Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar termed our short cuts to get the work done at earlier from government offices. He said that we should bring a change in our mindsets to get everything done on merits instead of adpoting short cut approach. Giving instances of violation of traffic rules, he said that there is no retake in case of falling victim to accident due to our negligence but in case of corruption practices, we have too much time to mend our ways.
Diljinder Singh Dhillon, SSP Vigilnace Range Jalandhar, said that the amended Prevention of Corruption Act (amendment 2018) has become more powerful. Section 7 A has been added to act against the agents/touts being active in government offices to get work done of the public in preferential basis. Similarly, Section 8 has also fixed the responsibility of the public, if anyone could not inform the vigilance bureaue about the bribe given to a public servant, within seven days from the payment. Under Section 7 A, accused can be snetenced to 7 years or more while under section 8, three years punishment has been imposed for the bribe payer. Terming corrupt officials/employees/bribe payers as the big enemies of the society, he calls upon the youth to start crusade against the corrupt elements by helping the bureaue to curb them. Reminding all the toll free number of Vigilance Bureau 1800 1800 1000, he said that a ring given on this number can help to eradicate the corrupt persons.
A skit ‘Chah-Pani’ based on the corrupt practices pervailed in the society also played by the students of DAN College of Education besides speeches by students Manpreet Kaur and Sonia Rana. Speech by Amanjot Kaur, song by Yuvraj Sidhu, both students of Parkash Model Senior Secondary School and Group Song sung by students of Governement Senior Secondary School Nawanshahr were also the pasrt of the seminar.
SSP Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Deepak Hilori, SP (D) Balraj Singh, DSP Nawanshahr Mukhtiyar Rai and DSP Vigilance Nawanshahr Kulwant Rai were amogst the prominent district officers who attended the seminar especially.
