Chandigarh, June 12, 2019: – Under the Central Motor Vehicle Act, the academic qualification of class VIII pass for driving licence will be exempted for one year.
This matter was discussed in a meeting of Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari and Haryana Chief Minister, Manohar Lal at New Delhi today.
Later the Chief Minister, Manohar Lal informed that amendment will be made under the Central Motor Vehicle Act, regarding relaxation for one-year in the educational qualification of class VIII pass fixed for driving licence.
The Chief Minister said that due to the exemption of educational qualification of class VIII, the driving licences of about 20,000 drivers of Haryana, especially in the Mewat area, will be renewed and new applicants would also get their new driving licence made.
He said that after one year, the amendment will be made in the context of the provision of educational qualification made under the Central Motor Vehicle Act or any other solution will find out.
Others present in the meeting included Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Gen. V.K. Singh, Haryana Public Works (Building and Roads) Minister, Rao Narbir Singh, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr. Rajesh Khullar, Additional Resident Commissioner, Haryana Bhawan, New Delhi, Chander Shekhar Khare, Media Advisor to Chief Minister,Amit Arya and senior officials of the National Highways Authority of India.
